APPLICATION CHECKLIST
The MPA program accepts applications for Fall Semester only.
Before Applying
•Meet with the MPA Program Manager

By January 1 - Graduate Entrance Exam
(This date is a recommended date because test scores can take up to six weeks to be mailed, but is not a deadline)
All applicants who have not already completed a post graduate degree or began a possible joint program must take one of the following entrance exams:
•GMAT (university code 4853: contact 585- 7366 to forward scores to OSH 214)
•GRE (university code 4853; program code 4801)
•LSAT (email pdf results file to program manager)
•Miller Analogies Test (MAT) (university code 4853)
The admissions committee looks at percentile ranks, rather than raw test scores and does not prefer one test over another. No minimum score required.
By January 1 -Submit the following to the Office of Admissions:
(This date is a recommended date because transcripts will take time to be mailed from original institution and received by the U.)
•Application for Admission to Graduate School (available online)
•Application Fee
•All Official transcripts: Do not send transcripts to the MPA Office!
•INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS must submit their TOEFL score to the Graduate School with their application by Feb. 1. The MPA Program requires a TOEFL score of 580 or higher.

By April 1 – Executive Students (late applications will be reviewed until the cohort fills, but will be on a first come, first admitted basis after April 1)

•Letters of Recommendation (three only)
Please have three academic or professional (not personal) references mail completed letter of recommendation directly to the MPA Office. If you finished a degree (undergrad or grad) within the past two years, one of your three letters must be from a professor or instructor.
•MPA Program Application form (available online: please type then print)
•Letter of Intent (2-3 pages, double spaced; focus on career goals and how MPA program
will help you achieve them)
•Resume (include relevant work, internship and volunteer experiences)
Before February 15 - Check Application Status
Please contact the MPA Office (801-581-6781) to check that all application materials have arrived.
Notification
Evening Students will be notified the end of March
Executive Students will be notified the end of April
Immunization Requirement
The University of Utah requires students to have received certain immunizations. Please visit The Student Health Center's website for requirements.
